Dr. Sekijima grew up in Bellevue, WA. During middle school, her interest in dentistry was piqued while job-shadowing her uncle, who is a practicing orthodontist. She was drawn to the profession’s unique combination of science, art, and interpersonal relationships, as well as its demand for a perfectionist’s dedication and attention to detail — a perfect match for her interests and personality.
Dr. Sekijima received her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Washington, and in 2013 she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. She graduated in the top of her class and was awarded membership to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. She then made her way back to the PNW for her general practice residency with Swedish Medical Center.
As a dentist, Dr. Sekijima’s goal is to not only provide excellent clinical care, but to partner with her patients in their oral health care. She believes in providing patients with the treatment options and information they need to make decisions about their oral health care that are right for them. She also values service, and enjoys volunteering both locally and internationally.
Outside of work, Dr. Sekijima enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors with her husband, family, and close friends. She is a loyal Seahawks fan and is a kid at heart, believing that Disneyland is truly one of the happiest places on earth.
Dr. Sekijima also manages a dental blog to help you keep up to date with the latest in dentistry.
